You might try Craisgslist, under Ride Share. Someone might be driving a pickup on that route and you could pay for their fuel.

There is a difference between hotels/motels and hostels.
The last time I stayed in a hotel or motel I can't recall anyone checking my sleeping gear. :D

Tony I'm sure your palatial estates on both side of the Atlantic have top quality beds.
I bet you miss the Aussie meat pies.

Not to say that most motels/hotels aren't clean, however I prefer to sleep in ( or on ) my own sleeping bag. I'll even put my sleeping pad on the floor and sleep on that, rather than the bed.

« on: October 02, 2011, 06:50:38 am »
Where could I buy a full map of the Natchez Trace ?
I realize there are plenty of places to download online, however I can't seen to find anyone selling one for cyclist.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I've read various post from different sites, however I wasn't able to find out if it's better to ride south or start in SD and go north. It appears most riders head south. This ride would start late September.
Thanks,

On this sad topic, I have been told that a cyclist was hit by a truck and killed last month on the southern tier. I believe it was on the panhandle in Fl. Does anyone have any details of what might have happened ?
On riding in Florida your dealing with lots of tourist who don't know the roads and are looking for road signs etc. In my opinion anywhere you ride you have to be a very defensive and not concerned who might have the right of way. It's your life.

Gear Talk / Tent Rock 22
« on: February 06, 2008, 02:44:23 pm »
I just got a North Face Rock 22
I set it up and it's roomy and big, however it might be too big for a one
person to use. It has two D doors and I like it,however it weights about
5lbs.
Has anyone toured with this tent ?
 Thanks,ED

Gear Talk / Touring tires
« on: March 04, 2007, 06:52:17 am »
I just replaced a Conti TT tire with a Michelin Dynamic 700X32C. Any
thoughts on this Michelin tire ? Also I'm looking to bring a spare with me
on a trip I'm starting from St. Francisville La. to Fl. sarting on 3/15/07.
Any thoughts on Avocet Kevlar bead tire for my spare?
Thanks Ed
