Here's my lightly used Mt. Campee rack. Very stout and excellent Japanese craftsmanship! I'm getting a more stealthy version! Less than 100 miles on this beauty. $100 plus shipping.

Believe this is a 2008 Surly LHT. Selling it for a friend who is now onto his next adventure. It's super clean and nice. Can't find a nick, dent, or bump on it! The largest difference between this and a stock Trucker is the cockpit. This one has trekking style bars with Shimano Thumbies. Very comfy and your hands can change positions a good bit. Nice area for the handle bar bag which is Topeak and an Axiom low rider rack. The rear rack is Topeak with a Topeak Clik in top bag. Also has a Satori suspension seatpost. Specs very similar to the newest model with exception of a Sugino triple. Original drops are included if you wish to go back to stock. Comes with Cateye Strada Wireless Computer, Planet Bike Cascadia fenders and "blinky"!
Saddle stays with me! Sorry. Bike measures 56 c to c or 58 c to top. Standover averages 32.25 in.

Gear Talk / Brakes compatible with Sakkit Touring Racks
« on: January 15, 2011, 11:26:54 am »
Hoping some one has a suggestion to get more braking power on my Sakkit Expedition 26.

I have both the front and rear Sakkit racks on it and currently have the original Shimano Deore LX cantilever brakes on it. I Replaced the front brake with the more modern version of the same brakes.

There's a clearance issue with the front rack that makes it very difficult to find a suitable brake aside from the Shimano canti. Does anyone have a suggestion? I am restricted by width so it's difficult to find anything that works! Just can't get enough leverage. the new brake needs to be smaller than 6" at its widest portion in order to fit.

So what should I do? Leave the front brake as it is and replace the rear(the rear brake has no restrictions)?

Thanks-G.

Classifieds / Re: How do you buy an item from a member?

I've found doing a google map especially with street view also can give you a warm fuzzy. I recently sold a Riv to a gentleman and was relieved when I saw his digs! He could certainly afford it!

I know, don't pre judge but in the World we live in sometimes it's not a bad idea! Especially if you're not feeling completely comfortable with the transaction! ;D

Grant Peterson's Rivendell created the beautiful lug work on this nearly pristine example! This is a 57cm Rivendell Romulus from 2003. It's one of the special limited-edition Cantilever models. It is the ideal bike for touring, commuting, Brevets, randonneuring, fire roads, and light trail riding. With the cantilever brakes, it even makes a pretty good cyclocross bike!

The reason I am selling it is it is simply too small.

Seat- WTB
Stem- Nitto Dirt drop
Bar- Nitto Noodle
Headset- Shimano Ultegra
Brake levers- New shimano aero
Brakes- vintage shimano wide profile cantis
Shifters- Dura ace 9sp bar ends
Derailleurs- Shimano 105
Crankset- Sugino XD triple
Wheels- Triple box Sun CR18s laced to Deore
Fendres- SKS full fenders with leather mudflap

Rivendell stopped making these awhile ago because they were too expensive . Now, with the yen to dollar exchange rate, A Japanese-built Rivendell (like this one) costs over 2,000 for the frame, fork and headset only. This built up Riv is worth the ask all day! If you will make a reasonable offer, please do so!

Classifieds / Full Set of JandD Panniers MSRP $350! As new! $249
« on: July 24, 2010, 02:00:51 pm »
Bought a set of JandD panniers for a tour that never happened. Four panniers total 2 mountain panniers front and 2 large mountain rear in black. These are first quality and retail for $350. These were on bicycle for fitting adjustments and and a few trips around the neighborhood that's it! Took 'em off and they're just sitting in my garage. I believe I have all of the tags. These are in  absoulutely new condition. I'll just never use them. May consider trading for Rando type Tweed or Carradice style seatback or large handlebar bags.
PRICE $249 Thanks!
