General Discussion / Near miss with truck on Trans-Am
« on: July 03, 2012, 08:37:34 am »
Hey there, the ACA group out yesterday had a really near miss with a truck, he buzzed all of our riders by blowing his horn and trying to ram us off the road. Please share this video to try and get this jerk banned from driving before he kills someone.

General Discussion / Must have iPhone apps
« on: January 25, 2012, 09:17:09 am »
Hey again, just wondering what you guys consider "must have apps" to take on your tour?  Being from the UK, I wont have "roaming" turned on, so will be wi-fi'ing it across the US.

Also whilst I'm here, how about using the phone in the US.  Is it best to get a sim card when I arrive and stick that in, so I can make calls within the US as well as home?  Or are there other options.  Thanks  :D

General Discussion / Insurance for U.S. trip
« on: November 22, 2011, 06:27:35 am »
Hi again, got two questions going at the moment  :-[

Ok, quick question.  I need insurance for my cycling trip next year across the US.  If there are any UK'ers on here and have bought insurance for your trip, who did you use and what did you think of the cover?  Thanks again

General Discussion / TransAmerica 2012
« on: July 28, 2011, 09:42:00 am »
Hi there, just joined the group today as I'm starting to research the possibilities of doing the TransAmerica ride in 2012.  I'm guessing there is a huge resource of information on here somewhere?  I've read a few blogs and spoken to some guys who've done it in the past few years, they have provided some great information on their sites/blogs and in emails.

I guess the first place to start is when best to do it, from what I've seen May or June is good, and I expect it to take around 3 months if I amble along enjoying the scenery.  I've found the maps for sale on the site here.  How did you guys start the process of?  Thanks
