Colorado / Re: Loop tours in eastern Colorado
« on: March 12, 2009, 08:08:12 am »
Hi Bob and Jan,
As part of a tour I took from Castle Rock to Ft. Robinson NE, there were a couple of segments in eastern Colorado that were nice rides.  I took highway 86 from Castle Rock to Limon (pretty ride, lots of hills, no traffic), then up highway 71 to Brush and then Kimball NE.  The Limon to Brush segment was ok, but the Brush to Kimball part was nice.  Went through the Pawnee National Grasslands.  Maybe you could string something together.  I went in late June and wind was not much of a factor except for one day.  Good luck and happy riding.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Dave and am down in the Castle Rock/Larkspur area.  Have done a couple of supported rides and one self-supported/solo ride (was great!).  Also have a couple of older sons that are getting interested in touring as well.  That time of year to get back in shape and hope the weather continues to cooperate lol.  Would be great to meet other people in Colorado interested in touring, some training rides, or maybe a weekender sometime.  Pretty riding down my way if you need an excuse to just get out and ride.

Gear Talk / trailer and rear pannier?
« on: January 12, 2006, 09:52:30 am »
Is it possible to use a rear pannier (or some gear on the rear rack like sleeping bag and tent) when hauling a trailer?  Or does that put too much weight on the rear wheel and spokes?  If it is possible, how much?
