Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / Northern Tier Section 7, map 87 - 2011

We received a report that CR 7 is closed to through traffic, there is nothing on the Minnesota DOT site so it is not clear how long this will be in effect. CR 3 to the east appears to be the best detour.

I just received a recommendation of another way around this closure:

Highly recommend Great River Off Road trail btw Winona and La Crosse. Is dirt but flat/bare. Avoid Hwy 7 mess.

Just outside of Shawano, the SR 22 bridge over Wolf River is closed due to construction. It should be complete by the end of 2011. For the most current informatio, see Wisconsin's 511 page:

Detour instructions SEbound:

It appears that the campgrounds in Pierre, SD are closed due to flooding. We are unsure how long this will continue, call campgrounds ahead to check status.

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / TransAm section 12 - map 148 - 2011

We've been informed there are two detours on TransAm section 12, map 148.

1) Willis Church Rd. near the Malvern Hill Battlefield. Take posted detour. Scheduled to be completed by December 2011.
2) SR 156 within 4 miles of Mechanicsville. Take posted detour. No word on completion date.

These detours will take you away from some services, be sure to carry water and snacks with you.

Due to increased flooding and collapsing levees, parts of the Lewis & Clark route in Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas are not accessible. We know that Hamburg, Iowa, Atchison, Kansas and the Steamboat Trace specifically have been affected. To keep tabs on the situation, please check the individual state Department of Transportation websites. Links to those sites are listed here:

Once you arrive at the site, look for links to Travel Advisories or 5-1-1 information.

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / Atlantic Coast Route, Section 2, map 23 2011

Due to an eroding roadway/shoulder, River Rd. is closed. Riding southbound, there is a posted detour on Oberly Rd. from Carpentersville Rd. which will return you to River Rd. Riding northbound, the detour is signed on River Rd. and will return you to Carpentersville Rd. near I-78. It is unknown how long this detour will be in place.

We were just alerted to a road closure due to construction in Kendall County, Texas. A bridge is being replaced on Zoeller Ln. You can detour around closure.

Eastbound: From Waring, ride 3.1 mi. N. on Waring Welfare Rd., then 3.2 mi. E on Rd. 473 to rejoin route at Zoeller Ln.
Westbound: At Rd. 473 and Zoeller Ln. junction, continue W. on Rd. 473 for 3.2 mi., then 3.1 mi. S. on Waring Welfare Rd to Waring and rejoin route.

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / TransAmerica Section 11, map 129 - 2011

We have just been alerted to a closure due to bridge repair on SR 30, south of Vincent. This will likely continue until July 31. There is a detour posted on SR 846 and 11 to return to the route in Booneville. It is approximately 16 miles.

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / UGRR Section 1 - Map 14

We  just received a report from the road on Underground Railroad Section 1, Map 14.

Smithville Mississippi was hit pretty hard by the April 27 tornado. The gas station is the only building left standing, don't expect any services to be avaible. Red Cross and FEMA are in the area and the road is closed from 7:30 pm to 6:00 am.

The St. Marks Trail out of Tallahassee, south of (SR 319) to Woodville is closed for resurfacing. The detour is to ride on SR 363.  It has a four foot shoulder and smooth pavement. We received this information from our Southern Tier Tour leader. To stay up to date on the situation, you can check the following website:

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / TransAmerica Sec. 10 & Great Rivers Sec. 2 - Cave in Rock Ferry

We heard from one of our ambassador members in Southern Illinois that due to high waters, the Cave in Rock Ferry will be closed for approximately the next week. This affects the TransAmerica Route on map 118 and the Great Rivers Route on map 18. He has posted detour routing on this crazyguyonabike discussion:

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / Southern Tier Section 3 - Map 42 - Spring 2011

We just received this notice from our Southern Tier tour group currently on the road:

Fires still burning in fort davis, tx. We arrived yesterday afternoon
but shuttled riders immediately to alpine, tx. Spending rest day there.
Just drove back to get mail. We were last ones out before another road
closure.

May want to post that fort davis should still be avoided. Lingering
smoke in the air and still a threat of another evacuation. Shifting
winds may bring flames back tomorrow to finish off what wasn't burned
already. Some businesses open again but not sure how long.
