General Discussion / National Parks Tour out West

Hi,

I plan to travel in and visit the National Parks out west.  Planned adventure about 6 months in length.  I live in Central Texas and would like to leave when it starts to get warm.  64 year old male.  Slow rider.  Experience tourer.  Might like to ride to parks in car and ride bikes within parks or might like to ride whole way.  Try to stay where the weather is comfortable.  Camping and cooking.  Lee tallybicyclecamping@yahoo.com

International / Cycling Around World

Hello,

I am planning a world wide tour of about 4.33 years.  I plan on starting going up the National Parks in the Rocky Mountain area, Hawaii, Australia, S. E. Asia, Israel, Europe up and down 3 times, home.
Camping and cooking of food.  Very few hotel, motels, restaurant food.  Free camp where possible.  Any one interested?

General Discussion / trip planning software

Hello,

I am planning some bicycle trips.  I would like to know is there any software where I can put in my general route and dates to be in certain spots and the software would print out how I could vary the route or the date of a certain destination to take advantage of local attractions that only happen on certain days.  For example say I am going from Austin, Tx to Yellowstone.  I would like to see as many neat events roughly along the way as possible.

International / Best International Touring Book ever

 :)Hello,

I purchased the book The Bike Touring Survival Guide several weeks ago.  It is stupendous.  Very good details on "How To".  Many references to email sites on very specific details.  This is good enough to take on my international tour and gives you many things you can apply right now to ride down the street better.  This is written by a satisfied customer with no financial interest in the book or the authors.

International / Freighters that carry passengers and Ferries

 :)Hi everyone,

I am planning a leisurely trip around the world on a bicycle.  I have been trying to travel between land masses via freighters that carry passengers and ferries.  I have searched for these on the internet.  I have had mixed results finding these.  Are they easier to find in person?  Is this a waste of time?  Just break the bike down and fly it?  Thanks for your info.  Anyone interested in such a trip in maybe five years?
