The Nunnery Inn and hostile of Little Falls, NY (a beautiful town along the Erie Canal) offers amazing hospitality!

We actually changed our route and will not be taking the L&C.  In fact we will also be connecting to northern lakes.  I found this website. http://www.rideacross.com/week5.html¬

I am embarking on a similar ride this summer (the only difference is that I end in NYC).  I posted a similar question a few months ago and someone very knidly posted a detailed route.

@jamawani

Could you explain where I can find the location of fairgrounds or do you know a place that lists campgrounds in Wyoming and South Dakota campgrounds in Wyoming and South Dakota?

I will be taking U.S. 89 from Glacier to Yellowstone.

I was leaving for a cross country tour this summer.  My route will follow the northern tier to Glacier goes south to Yellowstone, then west across South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, across the ferry to Michigan, takes The Eerie Connector to buffalo and follows the Eerie Canal trail to Albany from which I ride to NYC.  I was wondering if anyone remembers some great places to eat (restaurants, Deli's or anything good) anywhere along this route.
Thanks

Oh and I recommend stopping at a run down general store called Patterson's in Orford, NH for a Terriaki Steak sandwich.  The place doesn't look like anything special, but it was the best meal of my life.

(I know you specialize in mountian biking, but any information you can give will be helpsful)

Thanks!

Routes / Route from Badlands National Park, SD to Michigan
« on: December 05, 2011, 05:39:23 pm »
I am going on a cross country ride west to east with 3 friends.  We have planed a route up until about the badlands of South Dakota and need to figure out how we'll get to NYC.  I found this guys route online which we would take from the Badlands to Manitowoc, WI where we would pick up the ferry and link up with the Eerie connector.  Has anyone ridden this route? How are the traffic/road conditions and the scenery? Is there a better alternative?
Here's the link

I want to know more about week 5 and 6 not the rest of his route.  Click "view larger map" at bottom of picture to see a detailed version.
Thanks for the help!

Oh and we'll be leaving in late June so the whether conditions should be suitable.
Also we have about 10 weeks to complete the tour.  How long would you estimate this rout would take? (we would be riding relatively quickly, but would stop and take rest days at many of the parks)

Three friends and I will be riding cross country this coming summer.  We would like to start on the northern tier, connect with the TA and go south until grand Teton and Yellowstone.  From there we would like to head east through Wyoming and South Dakota riding through the black hills, seeing badlands national park, devils tower and meeting up with the L&C.  We would appreciate rout advice and road conditions on this stretch!
 -Thanks

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback everyone! We are going to be leaving the last week in June and would actually have a 10 weeks to enjoy the ride.  The main thing motivating us to do the Western Express is this guys journal...

we would try to take a bunch of side trips to the parks like he did!
were just concerned that it would be too hot to enjoy and opinions?
