Thank you!! I currently have drop bars but in a more relaxed position. Thanks for the straight bar advice.

Happy trails.

General Discussion / Continental divide advice
« on: January 08, 2014, 03:03:56 pm »
I'm considering riding the continental divide on a fully loaded ( racks, panniers, etc.) Salsa Vaya. Is this advisable as the trail is considered more for mountain biking? I'm looking at the sections through Wyoming, Colorado and northern New Mexico. Any previous rider's advice would be well appreciated.

Thanks.

I was on a tour with riders who had gas and wood burning and I have to say the guy with wood burning had no trouble at all. Even in the rain. Plus wood burning can satisfy the little pyro in you.

Thanks for all of the great advice. I've heard similar comments about the weight and difficulty of mounting MP's. Of course they never fail. For my needs it doesn't appear that the Supremes are going to be any compromise but in fact may be what I'm looking for. A little greater speed, easier mounting and no great compromise in durability. Thanks all.
p.s. For my next question, wire beaded or folding? As I will probably be purchasing the tires through ebay.

Gear Talk / Schwalbe tires
« on: March 29, 2013, 05:27:27 am »
I currently ride with 42 Schwalbe Mondials. I love the tires for gravel grinding but am looking for something as reliable in the Schwalbe line for street riding. Any suggestions on which is better regular Marathons or Marathon Supremes? I will still do some 1-2 weeklong touring but the majority of my time will be for light commuting and fun rides on city streets.

Gear Talk / Salsa Vaya rack advice
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:44:58 pm »
I'm looking to add racks and panniers to my Salsa Vaya. I could go with the Salsa front and rear racks which are made for the bike. However, I am tempted to order Tubus racks based on their reputation and increased load capacity. Most of my expected touring will be 1-2 week stuff. Nothing in outer Mongolia. Thanks.
