Toll roads in Florida...
ronnie421:
We are planning our x-country tour. We plan to dip our wheels in Melbourne, Florida and cut across to Disney World where we will stay a few days before continuing on to SF, Ca. But there are two (that I know of) toll roads that it looks like we will need to take. One coming into DW and another going out of DW. Does anyone know if bikes are allowed on toll roads in Florida?
StrattonS:
Insofar as I am aware, no toll roads in Florida allow bicycles. However, a call to the Florida Turnpike Authority will confirm that. Go to www.myflorida.com for the contact info. The Florida Freewheelers bicycle club in Orlando may be helpful in finding the safest alternate routes, should my belief be correct. They have a Website which Google can locate.
Good, and safe, riding to you!

Thanks so much for your help! I didnt know bout the cycling club there. Im sure, if I ask nicely, (LOL) Someone can help me with a way out of the Florida area without too much trouble from the law. I will also be loking up the site you gave. Thanks!

Hi ronnie421,
It looks like the Florida DOT Bicycle and Pedestrian pages are undergoing some changes. They used to have some great resources for bicycle travel on the site. You might want to contact their office to see if they still have maps available for planning a route across the state avoiding those toll roads:

I hope this helps,

Thank you very much, Jennifer. I will do just that!
