Novara Safari to LHT 2013 project
« on: March 11, 2013, 01:42:41 am »
I had an '07 Safari that was stolen, replaced with an '08. I hate the '08 frame. I am now moving back from Africa to Europe and am planning to replace the Safari with the disk trucker. I have not put many miles on in the last two years due to where I am living and am just going to swap all the components over to the LHT. My summer project...

I am using a Safari for my bike trip form Alaska to Argentina, bought it a bit ago to start breaking in, and I love it. The bars are great, preset to upgrade to disc brakes is amazing, and the price cant be beat. Plus, REI support anywhere you can find a shop. I think it is a wise choice.

I love the frame of the '13. It is strong and holds my 240lb frame well. Not to mention the butterfly handle bars are awesome. So many hand positions.

I would, also (re: above identical inquiry from a different 'ACA Forum-ee') benefit from learning why you dislike the '08 frame??? .... I have an earlier model ('01) and would like to stay current on the design changes because my inclination could be, at some point, to purchase another Safari to replace my present well loved/used one.
Thx.

The 2008 frame has brazeons for one water bottle, the steerer tube has a little projection on it that prevents adding height so you end up in as not an upright position (which I prefer), also the wheels came stock with presta valves...ugh. i just prefered the 2007 much more.
