Heading south from Newton KS to Mobile, AL
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:45:38 am »
I am trying to shave some miles off of the traditional Trans Am route heading east since my destination is Key West. Hope to restart my route after some medical issues back in Newton, KS after labor day and try and diagonal my way to Mobile AL then pick up AC maps again.  Any help on roads for all or part of trip appreciated.  I was thinking maybe Tulsa, to Little Rock AR, etc.? Newbee thanks for any help.  I have tried to contact states for any help also. Google maps seems confusing for this old guy, too many turns afraid I would get lost or battery would die before I do. lol

You might try checking out what the states you are traveling through have for bicycling and/or suitability maps to help you determine decent roads to ride. Suitability maps are ones the show things like shoulder width, presence of rumble strips and traffic volumes in any combination.

Hope this helps,
