Philly to Denver

My son graduates from Temple University in May and the two of us are riding from Philadelphia to Denver in June. I have been gathering lots of info on routes etc., but am interested in first hand recommendations of safe/scenic roads. We are traveling across PA, WV, OH, IN, IL, MO, KS, & CO. Any and all comments are appreciated!
