Need advice about 2 routes

Hi all,

I am planning a small charity ride (12 riders)in June from S.F to Los Angeles with a team of riders from San Francisco. I want to do the ride in 6 days and I am debating whether to take Adventure Cycling's Pacific Route or mimic the S.F to L.A. Aids Ride Route (SF-Santa Cruz-King City--Paso Robles-Santa Maria-Lompoc--Ventura--West Hollywood). I want to choose the easiest route possible since we are somewhat a beginner group. Has anybody done the Pacific route and how much harder is this then going inland a bit? I appreciate any advice you can give.
