I am planning a bike trip through the Florida Keys this December.  Rather than re-inventing the wheel, I am hopeful that someone out there has some useful information.  We are also open to a tour of Florida other than the keys.

thanks.

I've been in the Keys a couple of times, but never with my bike.

First, it's flat as flat can be.

Second, there is one road, Route 1.

Third, there is a paved bike lane or sidewalk on one side or the other of Route 1.

There are a couple of state parks for camping, as well as private campgrounds.

There is bus service or van shuttle from Miami Airport to Key West.  I probably have the phone numbers if you need them.

Haven't looked at a map to figure out routeing from the Keys to the southern terminus of the Atlantic Coast Bike Route.

According to the Florida Department of Recreation and Parks, there are 2 state campgrounds on the Keys:

Bahia Honda State Park on Big Pine Key, about 36 miles from Key West, and Long Key State Park, about 80 miles from Key West.

One bus line that runs down the Keys is Greyhound (800) 410-5397.
