Anybody out there who has biked in Yemen?
Or anybody with any (current) info on (biking in) Yemen?

Would be fantastic.
Trying to plan a trip for November...
Thanks!

I suggest you think again about doing that.  There is a recent State Deparmtent warning against traveling in Yemen.

I have heard a number of VERY bad experiences that Europeans and Americans have had bicycling in Middle Eastern countries.

I came THAT close to being killed in Zimbabwe a few years ago because the Lonely Planet I had was three years out of date.

Must echo what JacKessler says...get a State Department appraisal which anybody can get and its based on good resources. Is it a desert environment that is appealling? There is the outback of Australia, or some of our desert areas if you've not already done them. Jack..congratulations on avoiding a situation that would have left your circle of friends wondering exactly what caused your disappearance. Enjoy the voyage....Mark of the Dalton Boys

hey Jack and Marc

Thanks for your replies, but in retrospect we're really glad we didn't have our destination determined by the Department of State!

Yemen is a fascinating country that I would recommmend everyone to go see (and bike). It's simply like nothing else.

Check some of our pix and stories (definitely more than 'desert environment') on
