Cleveland to Toronto OR Cleveland to Michigan
« on: January 11, 2008, 12:04:39 pm »
My Buddy and I are looking for a 4-day, 300 mile trip.

We were trying to go to Toronto, and was excited about the lake scenery, but with the new passport laws it may be difficult $$ wise since we want our wives and kids to meet us up there (in Toronto) via minivan.

We would be out 8 x $80(?) = $640 just for passports alone since we both have two daughters.

Any ideas?  We were thinking of going west to michigan?

It's ALWAYS a good idea to have a passport. You (or the members of your families) might miss out on a future travel opportunity because you couldn't get a passport quickly enough. I really recommend you get passports even if you don't make this trip.

You can apply for the cheaper Passport Card:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt_card/ppt_card_3926.html

It's $45 ($35 for children) if you are applying for the first time. If you
already have a passport that needs renewal, the card is only $20.
