Can I Ride the Southern Section Any Time of Year?
« on: September 04, 2007, 08:04:42 pm »
I would like to ride the UGRR Route but will have to do it in two and three week chunks as I can get time off from work.  I am wondering if it is warm enough at the southern end that it could be ridden in the winter?  Thanks!Text

I lived in Boloxi, Mississippi for one year and in Dallas for another five.  The nights are chilly, sometimes there's a little ice in the predawn hours. But you'll be okay if you dress for a winter day, starting at Mobile and traveling north through Mississippi.

If it were me, I'd plan on getting a room each night, and finding hot meals.  I've winter camped in times past, and it takes the spark out of it for me.

Thanks.  That's good advice.  And I don't mind not roughing it now and then.
