Great Allegheny Trail
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:50:44 pm »
Hi Has any one ridden the Great Allegheny Trail and the Youhgiogeny River.  i'll be coming from Akron Oh heading for Lancaster Md and figured on following these two trails.

Just wondered what the surface is like on GAT as riding touring bike 700 x 32c

Thanks

hi tommy, you'll be fine on those tires.  the path is usually in pretty good condition.  it's incredibly beautiful out there.  if you have time, look at the architecture in the town you go through on the great allegheny, and also the frank lloyd wright houses near ohiopyle park.  have fun out there, jeff

Hi Jeff, thanks for that - i think maybe you  emailed me with some info already from the bike free web site. So to pick your brains further is the C&O canal trail going to be any help for me heading for Lancaster after following the Yougy River Trail and then GAP to it's end?

Thanks
