dempster highway

Hello all,
This summer, June, I am biking up the Dempster Highway in Yukon, Canada.
For those of you who don't know, the Dempster is:
- beautiful (google crazyguyonabike)
- 750 km long
- completely gravel
- mostly through tundra
- is bear country
- one single hotel/ restaurant/ gas station spot the whole way
- possible snowfall every month

Does anyone have any info, tips etc. on bike touring up the Dempster or a similar kind of ride?

Thanks.

David

Check out a book called "Along the Dempster" by Walter Lanz.  Though it focuses mainly on the many hiking trips possible off the Dempster Highway it contains a lot of information that may benefit you.

I was up that way a few years ago to do a backpacking trip in the Tombstone Range; beautiful country indeed.

For safety, you might want to consider packing along a handheld CB radio in case you need to contact passing truckers or motorists.
