Greetings fellow cyclist!! I am new to this forum and I hope I am posting in the correct forum.I want to ride the Natchez Trace. I am looking for suggestions for organized tours, other cyclist wanting to do the same or just your experience. This will be my first long distance ride and I am trying to decide if I should use an organized ride,SAG supported, solo,or group. Give your thoughts and ideas.
Thanks

Hi Augie, and welcome. A great place for a grounding in travel by bicycle, from solo touring to commercial supported rides, is in the How-To department linked at the home page http://www.adventurecycling.org/. Those articles distill most of what you can find by browsing around here, where we do better with specific questions and debates.

My own take on it: Adventure Cycling's guided tours are a great way to learn what it is all about, taking advantage of their experience and having fun.

You might want to pick up a copy of the "Guide to the Natchez Trace Parkway" by F. Lynne Bachleda. I got my copy on amazon.com. It's a very comprehensive guidebook - well written and illustrated.

Also:  For bicyclists there is Glen Wanner's "Bicycling the Natchez Trace: A Guide to the Natchez Parkway and Nearby Scenic Routes". Also the national Park Service offers a packet of materials for bicyclists on The Trace.
