Title: Women and Brooks Saddles
Post by: obinja on May 04, 2012, 04:20:35 pm
I need a new saddle. I'm considering a Brooks. Any gals out there have experience with them that can shed some light?
Thanks,
Obinja

If the father of a woman can jump in...

My daughter stole the Brooks Flyer saddle I'd been thinking about putting on the weekend before we started our TransAm.  I adjusted the angle once, and tightened it once.  She's still riding it three years later.

Couldn't imagine my LHT with out one. Took a bit to break in but now it is very comfortable. I had to adjust the nose down a bit but after that, no problems!

Pat,

Regarding the Brooks Flyer Saddle, what size is your daughter (approx weight and height)?

Don't mean to be too personal but I'm a petite female only 108 lbs and 5'-3".  I've been measure with a sit bone distance of 155 mm but it's all pretty useless when it comes to Brooks because I really don't have any avenue around where I live to go and try the different models that Brooks make for their saddles.

Was her seat the women specific Brooks Flyer "S" model or the "imperial"

I figure if a female is close to my size than my chances of narrowing down the correct model for me would be better.

She's tall and skinny, about 5'11" tall.  I don't know her weight but I'd guess she's around 125#.  No idea about bone width.

The saddle is a straight Brooks Flyer, so it may be a bit longer and narrower than the "S" model.  I bought it for myself and then, generous dad that I am, ;) let her use it when she complained about her stock saddle.  I think it's been tensioned two or three times since 2009.

Thanks for the info Pat.

Really appreciate it.

I need a Dad that'll give me a Brooks Saddle too.  :0)
