I'd like your recommendations on a new shoes. I currently use SPD clips with hard sole road shoes.

Do you like your current shoes? If so, buy another pair.

It really depends what you like, but I've enjoyed a couple of different pairs of Pearl Izumi Mountain Bike shoes for both on and off the bike when using SPD pedals.

Sandals with SPD pedals. Touring, road riding, all riding. If you want, on long tours you could use the sandals as your only shoes. Sandals work just fine for walking around all day off the bike. And work perfectly on the bike with SPD pedals. Super comfortable.

Depending on your mileage - onr other thing we often forget (associated with shoes)... know your fitter (or find one) - get your shoes/clears fitted. Footbeds, shims (inner) and outer and spacers on the pedals... in addition to clear location/rotation. Great if your blessed with perfect limbs... but Jess at bikefitmi is a great resource (Ann Arbor Mi).... 75 rotations x 60 x 6 x 7 days.... 190,000 rotations per week. Good shoes are a great start - good luck!

I've been happy with the Shimano RT82 "Touring" shoe. It uses recessed SPD but doesn't have the lugs/tread of a MTB shoe. Looking at the Shimano site, this may no longer be a current model but Shimano has several other RT models.
