The pedestrian bridge connecting Maryland Heights to Harpers Ferry on the C&O Canal Trail is closed indefinitely due to a train derailment
-
I just heard from a town official from Harpers Ferry. Apparently they are repairing the bridge and it is scheduled to reopen sometime in mid to late July. He mentioned there is also a shuttle but no details.
-
The local townspeople probably want the business that a footbridge would bring.
-
i sent an email to the person asking about the bridge as I couldn't find any updated info online and let then know if there wasn't a shuttle or bridge I would be rescheduling my trip to avoid Harpers Ferry. I'm sure even with Covid the town has lost business from hikers and bikers and the loss of the bridge made it worse.

According to a news story the bridge at Harpers Ferry is now open.
