My wife and I are planning a trip from
Fargo ND to Washington DC to finish up a cross country trip begun last year. We would like to take the Lake Erie connector east from Michigan and connect it up to Pittsburg and the "Allegheny Passage Route" to Washington. Does anyone know a source for good routes connecting the Northern Tier to Pittsburg through western NY and northwestern PA?

The Lake Erie Connector ends in Ft. Erie, ON. You can cross the Peace
Bridge into Buffalo, NY and follow the ACA Underground Railroad section
5 routing to Erie, PA. From there you can take the Underground Railroad
Pittsburgh Spur to Pittsburgh to connect to the Allegheny Passage.

an alternative is to take BikePA route A (a signed on road state route) out of Erie until it hooks up with the Montour trail in Coraopolis outside of Pittsburgh and this trail hooks up with the allegheny passage, partially on road since the Montour trail still has a couple gaps. this will make getting to the allegheny passage trail head in Mckeesport a lot easier since the there is a 10 miles gap between Pittsburgh and Mckeesport and the on road route sucks.
