Title: Help finding cycling or other outdoor industry job!! Thanks!
Post by: bern on February 19, 2009, 01:23:25 pm
Hi All,  My boyfriend is very experienced in bicycle sales, management, mechanics, advocacy, and outreach.  In addition Shawn has many years experience in both mountain and road riding and of course, bicycle touring!  He also has experience in other outdoor recreation activities, i.e., camping and hiking.  We would really appreciate it if anyone out there has any information on jobs in California! (Ideally, So Cal.)  Thank You.

Bernadette and Shawn

The cycling community is huge in southern California. Here's a link that provides lots of resources and contacts:

Best of luck!

Websites:

Outdoor Industry jobs .com
Bicycle Industry jobs . com
Bicycle Retailer .com/ classifieds

And with that experience, he could probably start tomorrow at REI

It sounds like bern is getting some good advice. If I knew about it I would tell you, but I do not know. I always try not to let my mouth overshoot my knowledge. Good luck.

Contact Joe Kurmaskie, AKA The Metal Cowboy. He is in Portland OR, not California, but he is looking for help with his 1 Million Bike Ride in August.

He also runs Camp Creative, a camp for kids that includes cycling. There are links on his web site.
