Title: kickstand for a 2010 Specialized Tricross triple?
Post by: lblau on July 22, 2010, 07:31:22 am
Can anyone help me find a kickstand that will work w/ my 2010 Specialized Tricross?
The LBS that sold us the bike said we couldn't put a kickstand on it, but I can't believe there isn't something out there that will work with it. I really want a kickstand, not a 'Topeak Flashstand' or the 'click-stand'.

Thanks

Because it is aluminum they probably don't want you putting one of the traditional types that mount behind the BB using clamps (too easy to crush the chainstays with clamping force).

I would think the type that mounts near the rear dropout using the seat/chainstays would work fine for you. Like this: http://www.hostelshoppe.com/tech_kickstand.php

I've used the same kickstand in the attached web page with my Cannondale touring bike with no problems (in fact, the stand shown is a Cannondale OEM kickstand).

^^^ +1 You'll have to go with that type of kickstand. You can't mount one behind the BB, because there's not enough space.

The Tricross is a great, all-around bicycle. I have an '09 Comp. I've changed the saddle to a Brooks B17 Imperial, bars to FSA Omega, added Profile Design aerobars, and added SKS fenders. Hundred mile days are relatively easy with it.
