Hello brad, I just bought my new bob anniversery with dry sak, nib, shipped to my door for 271, off ebay, the sellers name is Mike, and he is with Cactus bikes some where in Arizona.  I shopped for 2 months and realized the used bobs on ebay where going for around 20-30 less then the new ones.  SO go new, save yourself someone elses headaches.

Gear Talk / Ipod Charging on the road?

I cant seem to leave my Ipod behind.  Im planning a trip where power wont be available to recharge it.  Does anyone out there know of any solar or wheel generators for Ipods.  I pull a bob trailer and thought about mounting a small solar panal to charge my cell phone and my Ipod.  I know some of you will want to beat me with a foldable tire for wanting to take these things, but I own a business and my cell phone is needed so I can get away.  Please, any ideas would be great.

GPS & Digital Data Discussion / Best addition to any bike,

Hello there.  I want to brag about the best feature of all my bikes.  I have a Garmin Rino 110 gps.  Since I bought it and got used to it, Ive tossed out all of my cycle computers.  It not only has all of the features of a gps, but you can use is at a speedometer, and a odometer, large enough to read while riding.  It tracks your current speed, max speed, average speed,  moving time, stopped time, and is a 2-way radio aswell.  The optional handle bar mount is very durable, and I have one on all my bikes, including my mountain bike.  I would love to answer any questions anyone has about cycling by gps.  Good luck

Routes / Great Divide - Unsupported

Im also planning a great devide trip, but only the montana portion due to work, then next year another section and so on.  I plan on riding from top to bottom, my wife is dropping me off in roosville then picking me up when I stop.  I plan on being unsupported other than that.  I will pull a B.O.B. to carry my load.  Im actually searching for a new 29" hardtail mountain bike to ride.

Hello again everybody.  This is Craig from Pedalworks in Republic Wa.  To all of you that stopped and visited last touring summer, hope your trips worked out for the best.  This year, I will be set up to service your bikes needs at the Ferry county fairground campsite, or where ever you stop.  I will try to stock up on fuel for stoves, such as MSR, Coleman, and Primus.  I will have gallons of fuel to fill your bottles for the liquid stoves such as the MSR wisperlite.  I will have a few small tarps, and other camping supplies.  For your bikes, I will try to stock more brake pads than last year, and of course, tube, tires, cables, and other parts.  A word of advice, I seen alot of riders with chain and seat trouble coming through, its a good idea to have your local shop look everything over before you take off.  Lets all do our part to make this another great touring year.  Good luck everyone.

Routes / Northern tier, Republic WA.construction hwy 20

Hello everyone.  Craig from Pedalworks in Republic wa.  The Construction on Sherman Pass, St Hwy 20, between Republic and Kettle falls, is moving along as expected.  The old pavement is almost all ground off, and the ashpalt plant is now set up getting ready to put the black top down.  So far, they have been very helpful with cyclists at the pilot car stops, and proves to be a better experience than expected, GREAT.  As for repairs, Im still happy to meet people at the fair grounds camp site, or I can catch you on the way out of town.  Everyone that I have met so far coming though, have been nothing but kind and friendly.  My wife and I are willing to let anyone camp in our yard, just a 1000'  off the route, just drop us a line ahead of time for directions.  Any questions, dont hesitate to call Craig, 509-863-3283.

Dont mean to scare anyone, but just a heads up.  Sherman pass, on Hwy 20, between Colville and Republic has a 14mi construction zone that consumes the top of the pass.  Its not bad yet, but Im sure it will get hectic.  Feel free to contact me on alternate routes, or advice of any kind.  Im also the only bike shop between Sandpoint ID, and Omak Wa.  Have a good time.  Craig@ Pedalworks, 509-863-3283, or email pedalworks2007@yahoo.com.

Anyone riding through Republic Wa on there tour this year, feel free to contact me for repair, questions, different routes, or a place to camp.  I also am a tourer, and know how nice it is to have a little insight to a new area.  There is no bike shops from Sandpoint Idaho to Omak Washington.  So if there is anything you need, I carry parts and am willing to meet you in a park for a little wrenching.  My family owns a log cafe/convience store (where I can be most likely found) on the corner or Hwy 20, and Hwy 21n just three miles out of Republic.  Feel free to contact me for info.  Good luck  Craig Cooper

Routes / Northern Tier rt 20 washington

Anyone heading through washingtons northern tier, between Colville and Omak is a little town called Republic.  Its nestled inbetween two passes (Sherman and Waconda).  Please be prepared when heading here, as once you enter washington, on rt 20, there is no bike shop or bike parts till Omak.  I live in Republic, And am a retired Bike shop owner, still having some parts, tubes, and all of my tools.  I enjoy listening to travelers as I check out there clicks and squeaks from the large passes.  I dont charge for my time, but I will sell what ever parts I have with me, as long as it gets you going.  Im very surprised how many riders  stumble in to here without a tube, or chaintool.  My Name is Craig, my phone number is 509-863-3283, email, gtmtnbikr2001@yahoo.com  I hope to visit and lend a little advise with any cyclists.  Good luck, and remember, BE PREPARED.

Miles from nowhere is excellant, also "You cant ride a bike to Alaska, its a island" is also great, a nice read.  But I would have to recommend "A walk in the woods" by Bill Bryson, very entertaining.  Ive read it several times, and laugh every time.

General Discussion / dualsport mountain bike touring...

Hey there.  Where I live in Wa state.  We have many routes that havent been traveled by car in 50 years.  Very wooded, up and down.  There is a small group of us that take off once a month, on a weekend ride, and take off on a mountain bike tour trip through the mountains.  Most of the time we try to stick to 40 to 60 miles for the whole weekend.  Our main rule is NO PAVEMENT.  Most of the time I even tow my bob yak trailer, but often the switchbacks are too short so I just backpack it.  If this sounds like what you want to do, and would like more information, such as gear or miles per hour estimates, drop me a line.  Thank you.  Good luck, Craig

Hey there, Im just looking for different peoples advice on a good touring saddle.  My saddle on my trek creaks and flexes as I ride.  Any comments would help.
