Gear Talk / STI shifters for XT drivetrain?

Hi,
   I built up a Jamis Nova frame with a XT crankset and cassette using a XT rear derailleur and a Dura-Ace front derailleur and Dura-Ace STI shifters, and it works fine. I put a chain keeper on the seat tube so the chain won't drop off when shifting to the small chainring.

Gear Talk / Hub Opinions for a touring bike

I am in the process of building a touring bike with a Jamis Nova frame and would like some opinions on hubs and rims to use. The bike has 130 spacing, but I am told can be respaced to 135. I want to use a 700c tire.I have considered Dura-ace hubs-36 hole or XT (I can get a good deal on them). If I respace and use the XT I think I can get 40 or 48 hole hubs. Let me know what you think.

I am in the process of building a touring bike and am looking for advice on the drivetrain. I want to use a 12-34 cassette with a XT derailleur, a mountain crankset, 22-32-44 or 26-36-48, and STI shifters. I am told a Dura-Ace or Ultegra front derailleur will not work on these chainrings and a XT front derailleur will not work with a STI shifter.  I have been told Shimano makes a Nexave front derailleur that will work but only on a 8 speed cassette. I would like to stay with a 9 speed. I thought about a bar end shifter for the front derailleur but would like to stay with the STI. Any advice or opinions would be appricated.

I would like to hear from people who have taken the intro to road touring class offered by AC. How was it? Would you recommend it? I'm thinking about taking it in Richmond in 2005. Any feedback would help.

General Discussion / Intro to road touring class

I am thinking about taking the Intro to Road Touring class this spring in Richmond. Does anybody have some feedback to offer on this course? What did you have to take to the class? I don't have much equipment and don't want to spend a bundle only to learn in class of better ways to have spent my bucks (one reason for taking the class). Any information would be helpful.
