Connecting ACA Routes / Northern tier to Pittsburg

My wife and I are planning a trip from
Fargo ND to Washington DC to finish up a cross country trip begun last year.  We would like to take the Lake Erie connector east from Michigan and connect it up to Pittsburg and the "Allegheny Passage Route" to Washington.  Does anyone know a source for good routes connecting the Northern Tier to Pittsburg through western NY and northwestern PA?

My wife and I are planning a similar route to that you took.  We plan to leave Astoria in late June and head to Portland, through the Columbia River Gorge on the Lewis and Clark route.  Just east of Hood River, Oregon, we plan to cut northeast across eastern Washington and pick up the Northern Tier route at the Washington and Idaho border just before Sandpoint, Idaho.  We are doing the trip without camping gear (all hotels/motels) requiring that we find towns with motels.  I think I have a route more or less figured out, but am curious if you took a similar route and have and suggestions for towns to stay in or places we should not miss.
