Routes / Cheif Ladiga/Silver Comet

Chief is paved all the way now.  There is a section of Silver Comet that is not complete and you have to take a 6 mile road route around that section. You can do the entire Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga on Road Bike. See www.trailexpress.com for maps of the 2 trails and 6 mile detour around unfinished sectoin of Silver Comet.  Beautiful ride.

Routes / Which Road Route has the least traffic?

Just finished the Great Divide this year and looking for another long route.  Does anyone know Adventure Cycling Road Route is likely to have the least amount of traffic?  or the widest shoulders?  Only a few of the road sections of the Great Divide were without shoulders and with heavy traffic but they were my least favorite.  Any recommendations?

I read this book before biking the Great Divide and it had a lot of helpful information--

You can get it on Amazon for $13.57. I checked it out at the library then went ahead and bought it.

Just finished the Great Divide on September 21st. My husband and I both rode full suspension bikes with just 2 rear panniers and tubless tires/disk brakes. We went superlite on our gear.  It was a wonderful trip. E-mail me if you have an specific questions: sdopc@mindspring.com.

My husband and I are starting from Banff on August 3rd.  Hope to see you along the trail. I've been studying the Journals on Adventure Cycling for guidance as to good places to stop, get your bike repaired, where not to eat or drink the tab water, etc..

Does anyone have a way to prevent Hemorrhoids caused by multiple days mountain biking? I know the cure, but want to some suggestions on how to prevent - any saddle brand recommendations? Getting ready for GDT.

Just finished the Great Divide and loved my full suspension bike.  My husband rode full suspension as well.  No bike issues except for 2 flats coming into Silver City from glass. We were riding tubeless so the Stans sealed them up and we finished the ride without any repairs.

Does anyone know if there will be a Great Divide Race this year?  I can't get the old website to come up.  I heard that it was going to be run by someone else this year.  Any news?
