Routes / Maps for trans-Canada trip?
« on: July 12, 2020, 06:03:17 pm »
Are there maps available for a trans-Canada bike tour? In other words, is there a Canadian
equivalent to Adventure Cycling's TransAmerica route?

I could probably stitch something together from RideWithGPS or such, but it would be better
if there were existing maps.

General Discussion / Re: Bike-related Web site/app

There will be an app as part of this, which will make it easier to enter information. That's one of the things I think will differentiate what I'm trying to do.

A touring cyclist may have only intermittent access to the Web, but has continual access to a phone or tablet carried on the tour.

General Discussion / Bike-related Web site/app
« on: August 01, 2015, 12:26:10 am »
I've been thinking about creating a bike-related Web site and app for some time now. I've even bounced the idea off the Adventure Cycling staff, who referred me to
some existing apps. But none of those do what I want, exactly.

The Web site and app would be aimed at both recreational and touring cyclists.

I have technical skills. I'm looking for others who might be interested in collaborating on this project, from the ideas side and/or from the tech side.

I'm thinking of crowdfunding the idea to start.

If interested, please respond and I can give you a fuller description of what I have in mind.

Actually, I see there's a Walm*rt in town. I'd suppose they have camping gas.

Routes / Camping supplies near Mt Vernon Amtrak?

I'm planning to hop on the Sierra Cascades route at Sedro-Woolley, WA.

I'll take Amtrak up to Mt Vernon, and ride over to the route.

But I'd like to pickup some camping gas and other supplies in Mt Vernon. Google
Maps is not encouraging.

Does anyone know where to find camping supplies in Mt Vernon, preferably near the
railroad station?

There are a couple of Anaconda stores in the Perth area.  Anaconda is a big camping store, kind of like REI, and they have some basic bike stuff.

General Discussion / Portland to Missoula

I'm doing Cycle Montana in July.

I'll be driving from Portland, OR, and
can offer a ride to one person.

My car has a rooftop rack that can hold
two bikes (mine and another).
