Routes / Las Vegas to Salt Lake City
« on: October 14, 2017, 08:37:57 am »
Hi, planning the next phase of my trip and ant to go from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City.  Any advice on route and things to see along the way, always appreciated.

Thanks for that info Aggie, I have changed my plans somewhat and plan to ride west out of Las Vegas which means I ride out of Baker North on I15 on Friday to Primm and then after Jean guess not a problem.  However, it is Easter week end, is this a busy holiday for you guys and will Friday be especially busy?

Many thanks for all your info any  other tips for my ride would be welcome. Tony

Thanks guys any idea about the average wind direction in March?  So I an decide which way round to cycle.

Info much appreciated, thanks Tony

Thanks Aggie and I'll check that route out. As for your alternative, that's my plan for the return. Tony

Many thanks and water for sure.  I have plenty of experience riding deserts.

Hi coming in from the UK and I plan to head down to Primm and Baker which means long stretches on the I15.  How is this viewed by local police cycling on what is the only road.  Any alternatives or info much appreciated, thanks.

Florida drivers have a really bad press, much of it deserved.  However I have cycled all over Florida and never had any problems.  Admittedly if I can I ride on the side walk or as far over as possible.  But I do that everywhere, self preservation.
You are absolutely correct in saying bright colours but imo a mirror is the most important thing that will keep you safe.  Gives you a chance to control the lane especially in town but also to just get off the road if unhappy about the vehicle coming up.
Beware of those rented motorhomes, often driven by people unused to a large vehicle.
But have fun Florida is a great place to ride with some fantastic trails.

Hi and thanks for the trail info, unfortunately slightly too north for my planned route as eventually need to head back to Washington DC and fly home.  But it was very interesting and will take another look at my route from Pittsburgh.

Planning to ride the C&O and GAP in June followed by a tour of Pa therefore I don't want to change my wheels but would like a wider tyre if I can fitted on the existing wheels.  Then swap back to my road tyres once I leave the GAP.  Doesn't need to be super wide just a bit more to ride the trails.

This I should know but don't.  I have 700x32 tyres on at present what are the widest tyres I can fit on on this size rim
