I'm limited on knowledge of which route will take you south (say from the Atlanta area) however, I do know the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga trails travel in an east to west direction (not north and south).  You may check with the BRAG organization for routes that would take you south toward FL.  I would imagine they have ton's of route info since they been hosting the Bicycle Ride Across GA for many years.  Go to their site and look for the director "Vicki".  if she can't help, she can point you in right direction.  Safe Travels, Vern

Yakima Roof Rack was designed to carry almost everything - this includes that set of expensive wheels locked securely in place with Yakima Fork Mounts.

I have 2 Fork mounts for sale @ 50.00 for both - They are brand new, never used, still in original carton.

General Discussion / Re: Wireless internet on the TransAm?

When I was doing the Western Express in 06, I found that service was available near the interstates such as I-70, but in many places out in the west, I lost service if I was more than 5-10 miles off the main hwy.  I would spring for one of the card deals that allow you access no matter where you're at - especially if you have to stay in touch.  Of course, there are the libraries, but I went thru many small towns in remote areas that had no library.

General Discussion / How to get out of Antelope Wells?! (GDT)

Keith,
I've been reading your post - I'm really inspired by what you two have accomplished.  I consider you both "hardcore" as I look at the miles you are able to cover in spite of the roads and the conditions.  My thoughts and prayers are with you both as you continue this journey of a lifetime.  I did a 1,000 mile road trip journey across the great basin of Nev. UT, and Co., but I don't think it was as much adventure as you guys are having.  I hope you make it safe and sound.

I know that REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.) sells a potent brand of "bear spray".  You can find one of these stores in almost every state - I'm sure their in Colorado.

General Discussion / Protection from bears
« on: August 08, 2007, 11:01:55 pm »
All this is good info. - especially since bear populations is on the increase on the mid-atlantic - I'm talkin' black bear.  One night a bear visited the lodge (I was camping outside the lodge) in a tent.  I was so terrified all night that every rustle of leaves that the wind would blow, I would sit up in sheer terror - that was no fun.  The next night, somehow I was able to relax enough to get some sleep.  How about the young boy that was recently dragged from his tent while he slept, and mauled to death by a black bear.  This happened in the midatlantic area.  Again, numbers are increasing.
