Gear Talk / Re: Using a surf board as a bike trailer
« on: February 08, 2015, 09:33:20 am »
Back in the early 70's as a kid I did the similar with a Snark sailboat.  I built a "trailer" platform from two 20 in. bike wheels for the stern of the boat.  I attached with ropes, before the days of velcro straps.  At the bow I create a hitch from Dad's leftover pvc sprinkler pipe, attached to the seatpost.  The boat was 11ft long, so the rig was a sight on the road.  I used the boat to carry the cooler, bag lunch and fishing poles.

Burley D'Lite Child Bike Trailer High quality construction.
Made in America. 2 Passenger with large cargo space behind seat. Max 100 pounds. Could use a good cleaning. Some signs of wear but no rips or tears. Comes with two bike attachments and 2 spare new quality tubes. Has 2 covers, a screen cover and a plastic rain-proof cover that snaps in place. 2 pockets in the seats area, one on each side with two harnesses and seat belts. Reflectors on front, back and on rims. Quick release on rims and folds for transport or storage.  I was going to break it down and use it for a cargo trailer, but it's just to nice to tear apart. $150.00 ph (727) 481-7333, Tarpon Springs, Fl.   Thanks.

I was on Mapquest yesterday planning a route to drive our granddaughter home to Oklahoma from Florida.  I noticed the site has a selector to allow selection of bicycle as mode of transport.  Has anyone used this function to plan a bike tour?  BTW, it calculated the same trip by bike as taking 87 hours/ 1261 miles.
