Word of warning - lots of downed trees on the Secesh singletrack! Snow in the White Clouds (and a little on Bear Pete trail) but it's melting off.

Just got back from Bowery Hot Springs. There was snow at the Grand Prize Gulch summit. I came back via Germania Creek, and had a black bear cross the trail about 25 feet in front of me. Enjoying a burger and beer at Smiley Creek right now!

I'm riding the Idaho Hot Springs route starting in Ketchum this Sunday, June 22. Hoping to see other cyclists out there! Message me if you plan to be on the trail between June 22 and July 8 - I'll be doing the main route with single track options.

I'm planning to ride starting this Sunday, and a little concerned about the White Cloud singletrack snow depth - which of the snotel sites should I check to get a better picture of what's going on there? Does anyone have additional info on snow depth right now?

You could incorporate the southern section of the Idaho Hot Springs Mountain Bike route. From Boise to Ketchum/Sun Valley there are quite a few hot springs, and you shouldn't have any trouble riding the main route on a touring bike.

Temporary ACA Route Road Closures / Idaho Hot Springs (IHSMBR) 2014

The Ketchum Ranger District just released a map detailing the Beaver Creek Fire Area closure. The route rolls right through this area going over Dollarhide Summit. It appears the route will remain open, but the surrounding area is closed to all recreational activity during restoration work.

South Skagit Highway is great, but they put down new chip seal last year. It'd still recommend it though, a beautiful ride.

That said, if you take Highway 20 out of Sedro Woolley you can stop at Birdsview Brewery along the way. Hwy 20 has a lot more traffic than S Skagit, but wider shoulders that are fairly well maintained. The Cascade Trail is my preferred way out, but as previously noted it's a bit gravelly so not quite as fast. But if you want a bit of reprieve from car traffic, Cascade Trail is the best.

My maps arrived a few weeks ago, and I'm planning to ride IHSMBR this summer - Ballpark dates are late June to early July.

I'm interested in riding with other people, so feel free to message/email me if you'll be out riding around then as well.

The current plan is to start and end in Ketchum, departing on either the week of June 23 or June 30 and riding the whole route with several of the single track options in 2-3 weeks. Even if that's not your pace, it would be good to meet up with people on the trail!

Also, I'm new to the forum so let me know if there is a more appropriate place to post this sort of thing. Thanks!
