Routes / Tire dipping near Astoria, Oregon
« on: November 14, 2021, 05:39:41 pm »
I'm looking to start a XC trip in Astoria, Oregon. I would like to do the traditional rear tire dipping but I know that Astoria is not on the Pacific Ocean. Anyone of ideas where I can do a tire dipping?

Thanks. :)

All great options listed above, plus:

  • Wisconsin: 400 State Trail, La Crosse River Trail, Elroy-Sparta Rail Trail (Wisconsin Dells can be a great family destination of water parks)
  • Ohio: Little Miami Scenic Trail (could visit the home of the Wright Brothers in Dayton - museum
  • Massachusetts: An extensive trail system on Martha's Vineyard plus the Cape Cod Rail Trail and Shining Sea Bikeway

General Discussion / Re: ACA Tour catalog question

Greetings. The minimum number of riders that are required for a tour to go varies based on the tour type and the specific expenses for a tour. A general guideline would be 5 for a self contained tour, 7 for a van tour or Inn to Inn, and 22 for a fully supported tour. However, the Blue Ridge is a special one and need only 15. We are currently at 19 with only 6 spots remaining. This tour will GO and will sell out in the next few weeks. Sign up soon.

Hello.

Arlen here, Tours Director at Adventure Cycling. BobG is spot on with what it means to be an Adventure Cycling leader. The pay is $80/day and we use web technology to manage the tour and finances, but otherwise BobG captures the essence of the job. Passionate about cycling is great, but being passionate about facilitating others cycling experience is what is required.
