I m planning a roughly 480 mile ride starting in NYC on August 20th and ending up in Portland, ME on August 25th going on the inland route (e.g. NOT along the atlantic).  I intend to hit the Adirondack Park Loop at Niskayana just above Albany, then jump to the Northern Tier at Ticonderoga and jumping off roughly at Naples, ME to go to Portland, ME.  I'm an experienced long-distance cyclist, like doing about 80 to 110 miles per day.  My issue is getting from NYC to the Niskayana area.  I understand BR 9 will get me to Poughkeepsie (and that's just over 80 miles from Central Park, where I'll be starting.)  My next leg was going to be from there to Saratoga (108 miles).  But I understand that is west of BR 9.  Any advice on whether I should stay east or go to the West of the Hudson for that part? Any established routes that I seem to be missing?  I hotel/motel/B&B it, eating in local restaurants.  This is solo and unsupported, though at 6'4" and 220 personal safety is a bit easier for me.
