Gear Talk / Re: Remounting tight tires
« on: June 12, 2009, 11:45:46 am »
as aggie said the Crank Bros Speed Lever works great. I use one as well. I too had a set of tires that were diffacult to get on. There are a couple of tricks that I used. First make sure your tube has as little air in as possable while mounting tire to wheel, second, warm the tire in the sun or by hand friction. or, when I posed the problem at the bike shop I was told to get tires that fit. Having trouble while working on your bike at home is one thing, but do you really want to go through this while on the road. I found it worth the money to get a tire that fits.

Gear Talk / Front Rack
« on: June 09, 2009, 07:02:27 pm »
I am looking for a rack simular to the "Explorer Tubular Rack" by Topeak. This is a rear mounted rack with a "deck" for a trunk bag. I am looking for one that will fit in the front. I have an extra set of baga that I would like to make use of rather than by a new rack and new bags. Any one have any idea of where I can get such a rack or any ideas of how I can use my spare Topeak Explorer rack to fit on the front of my bike? I have a mountian bike with a cro molly fork. Gear Talk / Touring Tires

I am doing a cross state ride on my mountian / touring bike. I am using 26" wheels, 36 spoke. I am packing light using only rear panniers and trunk bag. My route will be mostly crush limestone and some road. I am going to use my Fotre Fast City 26 X 1.25. Do you think these will hold up to the long ride and weight?
