According to Adventure Cycling's Cyclosource catalog, the maps won't be available until May 2017.

Routes / Re: New York State Bike Route 5 versus Erie Canalway Trail
« on: December 04, 2016, 11:33:45 pm »
Youneed to be careful about NYS Bike Route 5.  At times, it veers away from the river valley and climbs some pretty significant hills.  It's easy to see this even on a NYS road map.  Best to stay close to the river if at all possible.  From Fort Hunter to Little Falls (I think), the trail is stone dust, rideable but not paved.  There are probably roads other than NYS Bike Route 5 that stay closer to the river in some places, and I'd take a look at those.  Many of the towns have mom-and-pop motels, and camping is also possible at many of the Erie Canal locks.

I left the TA and picked up K-4 north of Alexander, KS, and went straight across via Louisburg picking up the Katy Trail in Windsor, MO.

I did just that in 2010.  Take a look at my journal here:

+1 to what John said.  Once you put it on the calendar and start talking it up, it develops a life of its own and becomes real.

Also check out Champlain Bikeways (http://www.champlainbikeways.org).  There's lots of good information on that site, including cue sheets for both sides of the lake.  I did a 5-day loop a few years ago, and in general, the Vermont side is much less hilly, especially if you go through the islands.

There's a long treatise on the subject here:

Thanks - that's helpful.  I'm leaving the west coast in July and only need #1-8, so will keep my eyes out for any updates as time goes by.

I'm in no rush, and I only want them now if there's no reason to wait.  Thus the question.

Routes / TransAm Map Set Update Schedule?
« on: October 28, 2009, 05:57:54 pm »
Anybody have any idea when the next post-2008 TransAm set will be published/available?  I'm planning a 2010 trip, and need to know whether to buy the 2008s and use addenda or wait for a newer one.  Thanks for any info

General Discussion / Re: Where To Park

That route begins only a couple of miles from the Albany County Airport, which has long-term parking.  Google Maps should get you there, but feel free to contact me off-list if you need directions between the two.
