For my 65th BD I am doing the TransAm in 2025.  50-70 miles a day.  Mostly hotel stays in the wet west so we can start in early season.  April?  Planning a route with ACA maps but modifying for lower elevation gains by detouring on Rails-To-Trails routes.  Planning on Portland to DC but that could change as the group wishes.  Some highlights ACA Headquarters Mousula Montana, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmoor, Cowboy Trail, Katy Trail, Erie Trail, C&O Canal.  I am planning on making the route friendly to drop-in riders who want to join us for a week or two for special segments.  Young adult friendly.  Planning on mostly eating in local restaurants to support small towns and for the feel of the communities. We may have non-rider spouses or friends sag with a vehicle to carry gear.  As you can tell we are in early planning stages and if we get a core of 10 or so riders we can modify to their desires.  We can go fully self supported but that might exclude some want-to-be riders so we are open to volunteer suppporters.  I plan on video taping the whole route and posting for our friends and clubs to follow along.  With enough people maybe we can even get sponsors for gear.  I would be interesting in sponsoring a young adult in need of an epic adventure. We could meet up with RAGBRAI as many TransAms do but I am doing RAGBRAI for the 3rd time this July so another route is fine.

We welcome all riders to join LightningVelo.org. We have several levels of ride groups with daily rides starting in Long Beach California near the San Gabriel River Trail. We also race and have training programs.
