If you don't want spandex, go to your local SportsMart/Authority/Sports Chalet and they offer Mountain Bike Shorts, they are padded just like spandex shorts, made out of nylon usually and are a little baggy.  They work great as well.  Canari makes them as does many manufacturers, Performance Bike has a pair on their website but I've seen them for $30-$40 at the local sports stores.

Specialized makes a CrossTail for $1050 the Crosstail Comp gives you alot for the money, riding on 700cc x 45c tires, mtb handlebars, disc brakes, forks, mtb style frame.  You could put a rack on the rear since its single suspension.

Or maybe the Fuji Police Patrol ($720 msrp, performancebike can order for less)

Ed might read the recent Adventure Cycling magazine, one person chose the Giant Cypress ($440) which has front suspension and 700c x 40 tires...  Not exactly a mountain bike but.....
Also check our your local Performance Bike shop, they might have a nice Fuji that fits the bill and you can usually get 10% off their prices or their website will have the reduced price that the store will match.  Plus 10% back from performance member card.

Anyone in Texas driving to C&O Canal/GAP (June) or Cycling the Divide CO (August) this year?  I'm in North Dallas area and plan to attend both tours, was looking to see if anyone in Texas would be driving to either of these events and want to carpool instead.  From here its a 2 day to Washington DC, but a single 13.5hr drive to Colorado.

General Discussion / Team Bike Case anyone?
« on: June 19, 2007, 02:48:44 pm »
Well I went to the local Performance Bike store and was able to buy it on sale for $249 without shipping.  Being a team member I got 25% back in a promotion they had.
Seems like a good case.  The locks are a little tricky to engage but they do work.  Looks like I'll need to purchase some additional foam and wrap areas of the frame and wheels to prevent any chafing.

General Discussion / Team Bike Case anyone?

Anyone own a Team Bike Case (performancebike/nashbar)?
Thinking of getting one to ship my Giant OCR-C2 to Truckee, CA for the 2007 Sierra Sampler supported ride.  Would love to hear from those that have used this case and how much it cost them to ship usually.
