GPS & Digital Data Discussion / Can I take a micro sd card from my gps and install it onto another sd card?

Hello, I have a Garmin 60CSx and have the Garmin North America NT on a stock Garmin micro sd card.  I was wanting to put the NA sd card onto a bigger sd card so I can add routes from the ACA maps and be able to toggle between whatever is on the bigger sd card without changing out sd cards while on my trip.  Is this possible?  Hate to buy another version like a disc or download when I already have the N America maps on a micro sd card.

Hello, well I've kinda given up on getting these routes for the Great Divide in order, no matter how I load them they aren't in order.  It could be that I'm using a sat connection for my computer, Garmin says this could be an issue.  Anyway I just purchased a Garmin edge 800 and will see how that goes.  I do appreciate everyone's help and will let you know how the Edge works for loading these maps.

Hello, well I'm loading the ACA GDMBR gps info. onto an micro sd card on my 62s unit.  I just loaded the 1st map.  Here's what comes up on the gps screen.  When I go to routes it shows the route but it's backwards, in other words I need to scroll down to the bottom to get to the first route, not sure why this is and can't seem to change it, any ideas?
Map Source is what converted the gpx to gdp.  Once I loaded Base Camp it now comes up gpx.  It would be cool if the route was on a topo map so you could see lakes, rivers, etc.  Does anyone know if there is the GDMBR available on a topo?  I'm checking with topofusion and see what they have.  Thanks for all your help and ideas.

Hello again, it appears they are all in there, I only added the routes as you suggested.  Is there a way to make the route when it comes up on the GPS in order?  Right now it is in no specific order, not even alphabetical, appears to be random #'s that do coincide with the route numbers.  Also the file extension coming from ACA is gdb not gpx.  Do I need to convert these to gpx and if so how?  You've been extremely helpful.

Hello, thanks for your reply.  I downloaded Base Camp.  I then uploaded the whole Divide route with waypoints to my computer under MY Collection in Base Camp.  The extension is gdb not gpx.  Do I just rename it as gpx instead of the gdb extension?
Might need to be walked through this.  What happened the first time was I could only view the last map I loaded.  EX.  the last file I downloaded from the ACA gps map of the route, even though I loaded all the maps into my gps I could only view the last one I loaded not all of them.
Also is it best to just load the route or should I load the waypoints and routes?

Have a Garmin 62s which holds 2000 waypoints.  I deleted most of the info like hotels, etc. to narrow waypoints to under 2000.  I loaded the entire route on my Garmin but can only view the last loaded map even though I downloaded all the maps to the Garmin.  Not sure what's going on, I used Map Source and the ACA Divide gps waypoints and routes.  I do have an NT North America in the sd card slot, but the internal memory should handle this entire route without affecting the sd card.  What the heck am I doing wrong?

Fred, just wanted to thank you for all your help and useful information.  Unfortunately I had left for my trip before I saw some of the last posts.  I wish I could of tried deleting the waypoints idea.  I loaded the ACA maps to my GPS capacity of 1000 waypoints and just winged it from there and everything worked out just fine like it does in life.
By the way the Northern tier tour was anything short of completely awesome.  49 days 4126 miles of pure bliss.

Now I'm going for the Great Divide this year.

Hello to anyone, I have a Garmin GPS60CSx with a micro sd card that has the North America maps.  I have the paper maps from AC and I have downloaded the GPS data for the Northern Tier route from the AC site.  My questions is.. Since my gps can only load 1000 waypoints and Section 1 map for this route has 365 waypoints, there obviously would not be enough room to load the entire route onto the gps.  I will not be taking a laptop with me to be able to upload the data along the route.  Can I download each map seperatly onto multible micro sd cards, take the cards with me on my trip and download each maps waypoints onto my gps?  If so will this system work and will it overlay onto the NT American maps from Garmin?  To better explain let's say I've downloaded all the waypoint data onto multible sd cards.  I would need to pull out the North American sd card and insert the waypoint sd card that I've previously downloaded and download that onto my gps unit.  Then reinstall the NA sd card so that the waypoints overlay onto the NA maps?  Not sure if I'm explaining this properly.  Basically I want to be able to see the waypoints on the North American maps that I already have knowing that I cannot load the entire route onto my gps.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure I'm making this more complicated than it is but I am not that familiar with the whole gps system and not the smartest person computer wise.  I do have Map Source from Garmin already loaded onto my computer.

Hello,  there are a lot of builders out there but for my money it would be the Co-Motion Pangea if you want 26" wheeled bike.  Dump the road bars (unless you really like em) and look at the Jeff Jones loop bar.  I have this on my Co-Motion Americano belt drive rohloff and love all the hand positions and the loop section gives you plenty of room for gps, lights, flat screen tv, etc.  I really doubt you would have any issues with a steel built bike, I'd shy away from aluminium.  If money is no object than go with the Co-motion, might as well stick a rohloff on there as well...

Hello everyone, I have a Co-motion Americano belt drive rohloff and just love the whole system.  Runs super quiet, never need to mess with a chain (big plus), especially after 92 miles and over 6000' on a loaded touring bike.    The system is amazing and combined with a rohloff well you just pedaled into bicycle heaven.  Yes it's a bit heavy than traditional but not by as much as you would think.  I always carry an extra belt when touring, tire changes are easier than traditional because Co-Motion really thought out the whole thing with vertical dropouts and a external gear mech. on the rohloff and an ECC BB.  I am so sold that I'm selling my Moots 29er and having Kent Eriksen build me a belt drive rohloff ti 29er frame.  For anyone out there wondering about wear and tear on bearings, yes the belt tension is critical (buy the tool).  Being an ex- Air force fighter mechanic, no system is perfect but anyone looking at rohloff with a belt drive is getting close.  Like anything else some folks hate em and some likes em, you know where I stand or sit I should say.
If it has 2 wheels and your legs are going up and down, life is good...Oh if you're worried about outboard BB go with a Chris King and don't look back (regular maint. is required).

Hello, I have a slightly used Koga selgo touring or trekking handlebars for sale.  I used these for about 2 rides until I sold my touring bike.  These are the best touring/trekking bars I've ever seen, multible hand positions, plenty of space for gps, lights, computer, flat screen tv, etc.  They also have aero bars for getting low in the wind.  Aero bars can be detached in 30 seconds.
