General Discussion / Bicycle Right of Way

We all know that bicycles are entitled to a small piece of the road on the right hand side. But does anyone have any ideas for increased visibility to remind cars of that fact while riding a narrow, busy highway?  I've read on this site of touring cyclists getting hit by truck rearview mirrors!  We are riding the Northern Tier Route this summer and would appreciate any ideas--lights, reflectors, outriggers???
