Routes / Transam trail from Twin Bridges to Missoula, Montana

Which trail should I choose: follow the trail maps (direction Dillon) or the trail adviced from Donna Lynn Ikenberry (direction Butte) which is shorter?
What is your opinion and why?

GPS & Digital Data Discussion / Garmin topo U.S. useful application?

I have the City Navigator of the U.S. . This is very useful. I made a track in Mapsource of the Transam with the GPS routes and maps of ACA.
When I compare some maps of the CN with the maps of the Garmin topo of the U.S. my conclusion is that the topo don't give much more... Before I buy the topo...
What do you think?

Routes / Lewis & Clark Trail

We have plans to bike the Lewis & Clark Trail and did already order some guidebooks.
But we cannot find reports of that trail on internet.

Routes / Transam in Montana: best route...

On the crossing on US 12 with US 93 (N46 45.407 W114 04.942) there are two possibilities: going North on 12 to Missoula, MT or south on 93...
Connection is on Twin Bridge on SR 287/SR 41
What you think is the best choice?
