Routes / route alongside the Appalachian trail

Not having a desire to actually Hike the AT I am curioius about a road route to cycle that might run paralell to the AT, passing thru the towns that the trail intersects with.  Has anyone done this.

General Discussion / Lots of hurting bikers out there

Cruising this forum tonight was like peeking in the door at the the ER.  A lot of you guys are sure suffering and I used to suffer too.  Now if you were to head over to the www.bentrideronline.com forumn you won't hear about all of those aches and pains.  Maybe its those recumbent bikes we ride.  Just something to think about.

General Discussion / loaded touring weight

I am trying to get a feel for the total loaded, on the road, weight for bike, gear, food, water, clothing etc, etc, etc,.    

As an example.  On this months Adventure Cyclist magazine there are tow loaded bikes.  What do they weight with all of that gear (without the riders)
