I'm currently sitting in a motel resting in Phoenix. Could anyone email me or send a contact link for me to start working to help others.
I went to the habitat for humanity website and still after 3 weeks on the road they haven't replied

General Discussion / Who's on the road this May 2010?
« on: April 19, 2010, 09:20:12 am »
Will I cross the path of any long distance riders heading east and south this time through the USA.?
Starting in Blythe, Ca. Time to be on the highway this time will be a extended stay. No end date for arrivals in any location. Contact me here or at my journal website http://www.2453.net
Last trip I made back in 1999 I was 2 thirds across the usa before I saw one rider!
There has to be 100's out there! Right?

« on: October 04, 2006, 07:38:25 pm »
reply to jeanvallery@bicyclejournals.com
I have the 2005 firenza litspeed road bike with the front carbon fork.
I wanted to get some advice about changing it over to a surley steel fork with braze on's and holes for a pannier rack to mount.
I wanted to also convert the compact crank over to a 105 road triple. I will be pulling a bob trailer also.
the terrian that I will be covering will be this route,

Please anyone please give me some guidance. I don't want to buy another bicycle.

I' looking for a GPS with the ability to preinstall the complete southern tier waypoints with a graphical map to use not just waypoints.

This would also need to have the ability to add waypoints for places of interest with lengthly descriptions. water places to each bike shops or hardware biker friendly locations.

Come on now we know its out there but who uses one and where are they available for purchase?

General Discussion / Souther Tier and Jacumba
« on: December 20, 2006, 11:58:47 pm »
Has anyone inquired about the available facalities in the town of Jacumba, Ca.? My reason for asking is I now live here and from what I have seen there isn't any bicycle repair facalities.
The southern tier route comes through here. Has anyone pre arranged a location for camping or the such for the group that comes through?
Just trying to help if at all possible

Reduce inflammation
Improve circulation
Remove waste products

General Discussion / Riding Southern tier with load
« on: August 12, 2006, 09:49:16 pm »
I'm looking for some guidance here.
I've ridden the souther tier solo but want to ride with the group next year (2007)
I pulled a bob trailer and was reading a liitle about preparing for the trip and saw this quote
"On self-contained tours, you'll carry between 30 and 45 pounds, including food and cooking equipment"
Is this the combined weight of what I carry for my own personal needs plus this 30  to 45 pounds?
I carried at least 2 gallons of water (16 lbs) plus the rest of my personal items.
the bob weighs about ? empty.
I know it all adds up and I want to be in a lite riding position. Any ideas or previous trips taken with a weighed out packing list of items?

General Discussion / Email alerts for road conditions
« on: August 01, 2006, 06:04:45 pm »
Has adventure cycling created a method of sending out a email to anyone traveling if a natural event prevents the route from being followed?
Some people carry cellphones or pocketmail email devices. Some visit email accounts when in a town for the night for weather updates or whatever resupplies are needed. Any thoughts on this??
