For taller rider. This bike was built for me by Rodriguez Cycles of Seattle, and is in pristine condition. It will carry you as far as you want to go with as much (or little) as you want to load on, without flexing or complaint. Designed with extra tall head tube for a more upright riding position, Jones H-bar, SRAM 27-speed drive train, Big Squeeze brakes, Brooks B-17 saddle, Tubus front (low-rider) and rear racks, front & rear fenders, two-leg kickstand, and Cane Creek Thudbuster seatpost. Note: mine is the travel version with S&S couplers and will pack into an airline-approved suitcase.

Gear Talk / Recommended Long-Sleeve Touring Shirts?

As an older touring cyclist, whose dermatologist has been carving one or two squamous patches off my hide annually for the past ten years, I need to minimize overall sun exposure, which can be a chore over long rides in hot weather. L.L. Bean used to offer a loose-fitting, long-sleeve, bright-colored poly shirt with full collar (like a button-down collar with no buttons) that was a pretty good hot weather solution. But that shirt had no back pockets and is no longer offered. I'm curious if any ACA riders have come across a summer-weight, long-sleeve, poly shirt that features both a full collar and the two or three elasticized back pockets so often found on short-sleeve shirts? Thanks.

Classifieds / Front Rack and Fork Combination

Selling Bruce Gordon high front rack (see: http://www.bgcycles.com/racks.html) and Vicious front fork.

The fork was delivered on a new large-frame Seven Vacanza touring bike in April, 2008, only the geniuses at my road bike specialty shop circumcised the steer tube length down to 11 1/4" to achieve road bike geometry. Fork was swapped out soon after, but not before I had it black powder-coated and fitted to the front rack at Bruce Gordon's shop (high front rack chosen to keep the drop-outs clear for mounting bike on standard roof rack fork blocks). Steer tube still should offer ample elevation for riders with standard head tube geometry.

Retail on Vicious fork is approx $400; Gordon front rack is $175 new; both are in near-new condition.

General Discussion / Touring Wired, Wireless, Etc.

I plan to do the Southern Tier next spring and would like to download mileage, speed, heart-rate data from my bike computer every couple of days, and am thinking of picking up a new/used mini-laptop (2 lbs) for this purpose. Obviously, it would be nice to have e-mail and internet access at same time. If any forum members have lit on particularly efficient or useful methods of downloading data while on tour, I'd appreciate learning about your solutions. For example, is it possible to run and save data to a program like Polar Precision Performance off a flash drive?
