Southwest / Nov 1st 2013 Las Vegas Nv south then east towards San Antonio

Retired male bored going to ride from Las Vegas Nv south following Colorado river then southeast around Tucson Az and towards San Antonio Tx.  Have to be home for Christmas. Plan to camp, minimum cooking and occasional cheap motel. Smell the roses ride and flexible. looking to join up with anyone riding all or part way.

Routes / Nation Geographic Back Roads Software

Anyone use National Geographic Back Roads software to create new routes?
I want to create routes (USA) traveling county and state roads then analyze the elevation (Hills) and mileage before picking the final route.
NG Back roads appears to have Topo and roads but can it be used the way I want to use it.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Routes / San Diego to Cabo San Lucas Mexico

I plan to ride from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas Mexico during April and May 2005. I will camp and carry enough food, water and etc to get between resources following Mex hwy 1 to Cabo San Lucas then Mex hwy 9 back to La Paz. Any advice and information will be appreciated.

Routes / Researching Australia touring March of 2004

I'm making plans for a 6 month camping tour of Australia starting the first week of March 2004 and need any first hand experience, advice or criticism you have about my plan. I'm hoping 6 months will be enough time if not I will extend my trip (I'm retired).

My plan A itinerary is .

March-- Perth to Albany, Esperance, Adelaide then Melbourne.
April---- Melbourne to Lakes Entrance, Sydney then Brisbane
May---- Brisbane to Rockhampton, Townsville then Cairns
June--- Cairns to Mt Isa , Tennant Creek then Ayers Rock
July---- Ayers Rock to Darwin then Wyndham
August- Wyndham to Derby, Broome, Carnarvon then Perth.

I would take the scenic routes following highway 1 staying close to the coast line where possible. If I ride 50 miles a day through the populated areas and as many miles as possible through the un-populated areas I should have a few days off now and then. I prefer to ride and enjoy the outdoors and scenery versus visiting museums or out of the way historic sights. Not that I don't enjoy museums and historic places I do.

Anyone making plans to cycle and camp in Australia? I plan to tour Australia in 2004.
