Routes / Possible Route Change...need help!

Hey Everyone,
My son and I are doing the TransAm route this summer. We originally planed to go east to west but may need to change from W to E.
The question I have is, we would need to start from the Bellingham Wash. area. Since we wouldn't be starting from Astoria, OR. as the maps show, what would be the best and quickest way to get back on the route from Bellingham?

Routes / Ordered Maps!

Just ordered the maps for our cross country ride (TransAmerica Trail). 
We will be going from East to West...the maps have the ride ending in Astoria, Oregon. We would like to finish in the Bellingham, Wash. area. Any suggestions for routes to complete that leg of the trip?

Routes / Piecing together a cross country route

Hi everyone,
Please excuse my ignorance on this topic but I need some clarification on routes.
We are planning a cross country ride this summer. I haven't purchased any maps yet but our plan at this time is the TRANSAM route.
I've been reading through the posts and reviewing the maps on ACA and was wondering if there would be a better option for a cross country tour than the full transam route?

For example: The Western Express route would be ideal for us. If we were to take that route, what maps would you suggest to get from Pueblo to the east coast?

This will be our first tour of this sort and my son is only 13 so we are looking for the route that will be the most enjoyable for these circumstances.

As we continue to plan for our TransAm trip this summer I was curious as to what sort of weather extremes to expect. We will be leaving in late May and will be concluding our ride in early August. 
What sort of clothes should we pack?

General Discussion / Cross Country with a 13 year old boy

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and am excited to begin consuming all the great information. Next summer my 12 (soon to be 13) year old son and I will be making a ride across the country. I am trying to figure out the best option for doing this while keeping the costs down. We have virtually all summer so we can take our time. Question is, would I be better of doing this as part of a supported ride or is it something we could safely do on our own?

Neither of us has ever embarked on anything like this but we are up to the challenge and committed to the ride
