Routes / Grand Canyon to Joshua Tree to Los Angeles
« on: October 20, 2012, 10:49:07 pm »
Hello everyone,

We are three cyclists on tour across the US and are trying to figure out the last part of our trip. At the moment we're in Gunnison, CO after having transitioned onto the Western Express after riding on the TransAm since Yorktown, VA. We plan to be in Cedar City, UT by November 1 or so and will then head south on the Grand Canyon connector trail.
Our plan was originally to take that trail all the way to the Southern Tier and then head west to San Diego and then go up the Pacific Coast trail to Los Angeles. Could we instead cut through from Grand Canyon to Joshua Tree and then on to Los Angeles? I've tried researching on this forum and elsewhere but haven't found anything. This may be a totally foolish/crazy idea but I just figured it might be worth a shot. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I know that the forums are supposed to be solicitation free so I hope that this is ok.
My two friends and I are venturing out on a TransAm to Western Express ride (heading west) beginning in September and will be documenting our trip through photographs & video and will be keeping a blog throughout. We'll also be making a gift to ACA for all their support and giving half of what we raise to Feeding America. We've been using these forums for much of our research as we plan our trip and are immensely thankful for all the help we've received. If you have a moment please check out the link (http://www.indiegogo.com/slowwheels?a=152058) and/or share with a friend. Links for our tumblr, facebook, & twitter accounts are below. Thanks so much!

Routes / East to West TransAm to Southern Tier
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:18:30 am »
Hello all,

I've tried to research copiously on the forums for this and have found some really helpful stuff but still have some questions.

Two friends and I are planning to leave September 1 on our cross country bike trip. We would like to travel east to west along the TransAm and then connecting to the Southern Tier. I would greatly appreciate anyone's feedback as to the best connecting route.
Our chief concern is the weather turning as we are starting later in the year and the winds in and around Kansas. We are planning to be self-contained in our travel for the most part. We plan on staying on the ACA map routes for the most part but are willing to take alternate routes when necessary.

Any feedback would be really helpful, thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and have just become a member. I am planning on biking cross country this upcoming year and will be mining the boards for insights before I go posting a bunch of general questions that have probably been asked before.

But, I did want to see if anyone had any experience with the bike posted below and whether or not they think it would be a good one for the cross country trip.

My friend is thinking of purchasing it in hopes that it can also be his bike after he's done. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading through!
